Where are
we headed?
Idoma Aa ainya oowa! Idoma Welcome!! Welcome to IdomaNet, a cyber home for people of Idoma
descent!!!
A kind of a race for development started a long time ago between the
various tribes of present day Nigeria, our dear homeland was in the race
behind some, ahead of some but today, we are not even in the race. What
has happened?
We have been and are being ravaged by hunger, lambasted by HIV and
AIDS, hammered by poverty and swung around by injustice. We have
produced more Generals in the Military who were in the inner corridors
of military cum Political power than some of the major tribes, yet we
have nothing, Zippo, Nadda, to show for producing those
"LEADERS". We have been killed, maimed and victimised in war,
peace and whatever is in between than most have dead or living but we
still get no respect or regard from anyone.
We produce so much food; enough that we feed the rest of Nigeria and
beyond yet have to starve to feed our families half a meal a day. We
have the highest rate of unemployment in Nigeria, if not Africa, maybe
even the whole world. Our Headquarters, Otukpo used to be a place of
pride for all Idomas but today, it is a settlement of crumbling bricks,
potholes called roads and moving carcasses waiting to drop dead from
hunger. By the way, we all dodge the potholes, rich or poor) - what a
shame!
Idomanet has been registered to give everyone a voice to rant, rave
and vent but my dear people, do not feel low. Let us get up, hold our
heads high and begin the rejuvenation of a forgotten land.
If you Ladies and Gentlemen do not mind, I hereby appoint myself the
Honorary Town-Crier, I will cry out loud in defense of my people in the
hope that my people will rise from the slumber into which we have been
put. At the risk of boring you with my personal opinion, I leave the
floor for others to talk to Idoma.
